I was born in 1976 and am bachelor in biology and am at the moment working on my master about dog behaviour.  I have during my study focused on behaviour and morphology in animals as well as genetics.

I have always had animals around me. I grow up with sled dogs, first Samoyeds and later Alaskan Malamute. These dogs were primarily pets, but we did some sledding with them too. Breeding has always been one of my passions; I did already as a child dream of breeding dogs and before I got a dog did I breed rabbits, birds, cichlids and horses.

I bought my first dog in 1999. I choose the Aussie after thorough consideration, it did in fact take me almost two yours to make up my mind, but I never once have regretted the final choice. I did in fact fell so much in love with this breed that other Aussies quickly followed the first.

I saw the Aussie for the first time as a teenager in the movie “Flight of the Navigator”. I did not know the name of the breed at that time, but the charm and elegance of that little blue dog was something I remembered for years. When I a couple of years later started to look for the perfect breed for me, the Aussie funnily enough was one of the few breeds that fulfilled all my expectations.

In the year 1999 did a little red bitch by the name Savoy move in. Her lovely character and bright mind however made that, not only I, but also several others fell in love with this lovely breed. So only 1½ year later did two imports from USA also move in with us: a black tri bitch called Emmy (Marquis Sure Image of Encore) and a blue merle dog called Fletcher (Kaleidoscope Reflected Image).

The kennel name Painted Magic was established in 2001 and the firs litter born two years later. Though I might be a breeder of Australian Shepherds breeding and shows are far from the most important aspect in my kennel. My dogs are first and foremost beloved and quite spoiled members of the family: they live in the house with us as one pack, sleeps in my bedroom at night, they are joining us in most of the family’s activities and many other things.

Sirius and I during class three obedience

Obedience has been my passion for many years, though I wasn't planning it that way when I bought my first Aussie, but her intelligence awakes an interested that has persisted. The passion for competition did also awake as I saw how good she was - though I will not/ cannot defined my self as competition-minded person and I do furthermore suffer from a severe case of "butterflies in the stomach". I have at the moment been training and trailing 4 Aussies:

  • LP1 LP2 Khetashio Savoy Truffle - the first Aussie in Denmark with a LP2

  • LP1 LP2 Marquis Sure Image of Encore

  • LP1 LP2 Painted Magic Amidala of Naboo - the youngest Aussie in Denmark with a LP1

  • LP1 LP2 LP3 LPCh. Painted Magic Beyon the Veil - the male Aussie in Denmark with a LP3 and LPCh

Rally and HTM is also something I train a bit and I am planning to compete some time in the further too.

The summer of 2006 did I try herding for the first time - and wohooo! It is hard to describe it is just something you gotta try! What was planned to be just a-one-time-try has grown into a passion, but ... the biggest hurdle in herding is training opportunities and prober training, but I am expecting to start trailing fall 2008 - if I can learn to control my "butterflies" :o)

I have been feeding raw since spring 2007. Not that I have anything against kibbles in general, I still use dry food when I for example have forgot to take some meat out the freezer. I  just had a real hard time finding a brand that fulfilled all of my expectation - and more important that was available on the Danish marked.

I have chosen to feeding raw because I want what is the best for my dogs, and what can be better than feeding what the dog was mend to eat: meat. I am furthermore (almost) 100% responsible for what I am feeding my dogs, there are no hidden stuff under fancy name in what I am feeding to my dogs, I know 100% what I am giving them and can thereby fed with a clean conscience. I must however point out that I rarely use product from the BARF shops, I am buying almost all of my products at the local slaughterhouse or the supermarket - all the products I am using have I quality that I could eat them my self, which also has happen a couple of time :o)
